The Residence — the teacher's test
The ten pages of the Student Test for lesson 4, in the teacher's order and with the teacher's wording. Type your answers and check them here, or print the page and write on paper.
p. 27 · Read and translate
Read the following text, then translate it in English. Read each line aloud first, translate it in your head, then tap it to check.
p. 28 · Match the pronoun
Match the pronoun to the correct verb conjugation of يَفْعَلُ. Pick the form for each pronoun; the list holds the thirteen forms in the order the test prints them.
p. 29 · Conjugate يَدْرُسُ
Complete each sentence with the correct form of يَدْرُسُ based on the subject pronoun.
The test has only one هُمَا; يَدْرُسَانِ (two men, or a man and a woman) is the safe answer, تَدْرُسَانِ (two women) is accepted too.
p. 30 · Translation challenge (English → Arabic)
Say or write the Arabic, then tap the card for a model answer and grade yourself. Your version can differ in word order and still be right.
- Confirm with your teacher — not in the book yet: تُحِبُّ “she loves” (4), لَدَيْهِمْ “they have” (5, the book shows only لَدَيْكُمْ، لَدَيْنَا), تُرِدْنَ “you (f. pl.) want” (7).
- كُلَّ شَهْرٍ “every month” comes from the test's own p. 33. Explanations for every sentence: lesson 4, 7.4.
p. 31 · Conjugate three verbs in the present
Conjugate the following verbs in the present tense.
to rentيَسْتَأْجِرُ
to payيَدْفَعُ
to sitيَجْلِسُ
p. 32 · Past, command, maṣdar

p. 33 · Complete the sentences
Complete the sentences with the correct form of the given verb (past, present, command, or verbal noun). The small line names the form wanted and the verb.
- The maṣdar changes its last vowel with its place in the sentence: kasra after فِي (اِسْتِئْجَارِ), ḍamma as the subject (دَفْعُ), and no tanwīn, because the next word owns it.
- اِدْفَعِ الإِيجَارَ: the command's sukūn becomes kasra before ال; plain اِدْفَعْ is accepted.
- Meanings and new words (أَمْسِ، الأُسْبُوعَ المَاضِيَ، فَوْرًا، ضَرُورِيٌّ …): lesson 4, 7.7.
p. 34 · Create a story
Create a story in Arabic starting from the following prompt:
Omar has just arrived in a new city and is looking for an apartment to rent. He visits this furnished apartment and speaks with the landlord to ask about its features. He wants to know how many rooms it has, whether the rent includes electricity and water, and if there is parking available.
The test page shows a drawing of a furnished apartment: living room with sofa and TV, dining table, kitchen, balcony.
Model story (only words from the book and the test)
Confirm with your teacher: لَدَيْهِ (he has), مَعَ أَحْمَدَ (fatḥa on a name without tanwīn), كَمْ غُرْفَةً (singular with fatḥa-tanwīn after “how many”).
p. 35 · Role-play
New role-play with your teacher: tell us about your apartment. Prepare it aloud; the teacher will then ask the questions Umar asked.
